Following a two-year hiatus and two virtual conferences during the pandemic (in 2020 and 2021), this in-person event will bring together emerging and senior women leaders, opinion shapers, policymakers and male allies in health, gender, and development for engaging, needle-pushing discourse on the transformation of global health through inclusive leadership. The WomenLift Health Global Conference will also provide an opportunity to build networks and leadership skills, mentor and inspire women leaders and catalyze global action to close the gender gap in health leadership. The conference, which started in 2017, was previously referred to as the Women Leaders in Global Health Conference.

The WomenLift Health Global Conference 2024 is an in-person conference. Pleanary sessions will be livestreamed through our WomenLift Health Social media platforms.  

The conference will take place from April 6 to April 8, 2024, at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Center in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. The conference will span 3 days and will have a regional focus on South Asia and Africa.

The WomenLift Health Global Conference 2024 welcomes a diverse audience, including but not limited to:

  • Emerging and Established Women Leaders in Global Health: Individuals passionate about advancing their leadership roles in the global health sector.
  • Male Allies in Health, Gender, and Development: Those committed to fostering gender equality and supporting women leaders in these fields.
  • Opinion Shapers and Policymakers: Individuals shaping and influencing health, gender, and development policies on a global scale.
  • Media Representatives: Professionals keen on covering and contributing to the dialogue surrounding women’s leadership and gender equality in health.
  • Leaders from key government agencies
  • Community leaders and grassroots organizers, including underrepresented voices and emerging leaders. 

The conference aims to create a dynamic and inclusive space for individuals from various backgrounds, sectors, and health disciplines to engage in transformative discussions and actions.

Unfortunately, on-site registration services will not be offered at the venue. We kindly recommend registering in advance through our online registration portal to ensure a seamless and efficient experience during the WomenLift Health Global Conference 2024.

No refund is given for registration fees. Registration can however be transferred to another person if requested in writing by e-mail to the conference secretariat through [email protected].

Currently the wearing of masks is NOT mandatory inside the event venue, however we will remain a mask-friendly event for those who prefer to wear one. The Tanzania Ministry of Health released “Travel Advisory #12 ” effective January 12, 2023, with updated entry and exit requirements for travellers to mainland Tanzania.

We are still in the process of developing the programme and this will be made available as soon as possible.

Participants are responsible for their own hotel arrangements. The conference organizers are not in a position to assist participants with hotel bookings, nor can they assume responsibility for paying cancellation fees or for re-bookings and no shows. 

An airport shuttle service will be provided for all conference delegates. There will be designated ushers to receive delegates, and who will lead them to the cars/ buses for drop offs.  

Yes, there are Uber equivalent services and taxis, but the payment costs on this will be the delegates responsibility. 

Yes. A buffet lunch, offering diverse dietary needs and preferences, will be provided each day of the conference. There will also be light snacks served during morning and afternoon tea breaks. 

The conference dress code is business casual. 

Yellow fever vaccination is required for all travelers arriving from, or having transited through, countries where yellow fever is endemic. Direct arrivals from non-endemic countries, including all countries in Europe and North America, are usually not required to show a yellow fever vaccination certificate. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provides additional information about recommended vaccines and medications for travelers going to Tanzania. Delegates from yellow fever endemic countries entering the United Republic of Tanzania, will be required to show their valid yellow fever immunization card. WomenLift Health has been considerate of the participants fees for both High Income and Middle-Income countries and therefore will not be able to extend scholarships/ waivers for the 2024 Conference.

The payment platform we’re utilizing should be easy to operate. However, should you encounter any challenges, we would advise that you reach out to your bank for further guidance/ assistance as this is an international, payment platform.

Unfortunately, the conference is designed to provide an interactive platform specifically tailored for women leaders to engage with one another. This therefore may not be the most suitable gathering for the presentation of oral presentations, abstracts, or academic papers.

Nevertheless, we remain hopeful that you will consider participating in the conference.

There are various engaging avenues available for active involvement by delegates. Beyond the plenaries, fireside chats, digital campaigns, podcasts, and the media center, delegates can delve deeper into the conference experience by attending an array of relevant panel sessions, mentoring sessions, workshops, and side events. 

WomenLift Health has designated networking corners within the conference venue where conference delegates can connect with one another.

Experts anticipate above-average rainfall during this period in the East Africa Region. According to a recent report, certain regions in Tanzania may experience early to normal onset of rainfall over the next three months. We do not anticipate the rains to interrupt the conference as the venue is situated in a location with good infrastructure and access.

While meteorological forecasts provide valuable insights, weather patterns can be unpredictable. It’s essential to stay updated with local meteorological services for the most accurate and timely information regarding rainfall patterns in Tanzania.
